COSHH regulation 9 requires regular maintenance, inspection and testing of exposure control measures

Regular inspections and testing of LEV systems are vital for more than just compliance with health and safety regulations. They are key to identifying potential system inefficiencies or failures early on, ensuring that the systems continue to protect workers effectively. Under COSHH regulations and HSG258 guidance, LEV systems must be examined and tested at least every 14 months.

The HSE mandates face fit testing as part of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (CoSHH) regulations. It requires that workers using tight-fitting RPE must be fit tested to ensure RPE provides the intended level of protection. Fit testing will need to be repeated when there are any changes in equipment or the facial characteristics of the wearer that could affect the fit for that wearer.
